STEAM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) are crucial for developing a future-ready workforce. It is essential that children develop interest in these subjects during early years of school education. Science-based games and toys act as a bridge, making these subjects more accessible and enjoyable, instilling a passion for STEAM from young age. They also highlight the significance of science in daily life. These tools help children to appreciate fundamental scientific principles and foster curiosity and critical thinking. India has a rich heritage of such toys that can aid in the development of skills like math, sensory development, and hand-eye coordination. Advances in science and technology have led to innovative, new-age games and toys. The 'Science through Games and Toys' initiative at IISF aims to instil a scientific mindset using these tools, showcasing both traditional and contemporary options. It hosts sessions and workshops for students and teachers to promote effective teaching methodologies with these resources.
