Problem statement 1: Technology, Innovation and Ideas for Water Resources Management

Conservation of water resource and management in urban as well as in rural areas are important. Considerable share of the water needs are needed to be fulfilled  through recycling of waste water, alternative sources of water through adoption of new and appropriate technologies such as desalination technologies of ocean water, basin level management strategies, enhanced storage of both above and below ground and rainwater harvesting. Management of surface water resources, management and regulation of ground water resources, storage structures for fresh and drainage system for wastewater and conservation of wetland are also important. Ensuring integrated water resource management helping to conserve water, minimize wastage and more equitable distribution of water are also crucial. Overexploitation of groundwater should be avoided and innovative practices can be adopted. With the aid of Science & Technology, effective management of water can be done. To realize this, innovative domestic water conservation devices, hydro-meteorology techniques for water resources are instrumental. A participatory motion through this program may help involving Researchers, Science-based NGO’s, Stakeholders for planning, designing management through various schemes. Incubation of innovative approaches that promote the development of new and emerging technologies to overcome the scarcity of clean, fresh water is the goal of this program.

Problem statement 2: Affordable Renewable and Clean Energy in Total Energy Consumption

It is essential to be less dependent on imported energy for advancing Nation’s economy. Use of coal and fossil fuel directly impacts on global warming, emission and environmental risks. For a healthier future, renewable energy production and consumption is the need of the present. Solar power, wind-tidal power and hydropower generation, biomass energy production, geothermal energy and heat pumps, natural gas plants grid integrated solutions, home- and institution-based mini-grids, Bio-fuel and Biodiesel production as a substitute for fuel should be promoted in the urban and rural parts of India. Other alternative energy sources are also needed to be introduced for clean energy harvesting. Roof based solar system in institutions, houses, and rural areas will increase clean energy harvesting. Continued innovative research for clean energy and reducing investments in fossil fuel is important in this regard. The aim of this program is to unite representatives, industrialists, professionals and researchers for the innovative discussion, presentation, exchanging innovative ideas and addressing current challenges and criticism about recent trends in research for clean and renewable energy solutions, green energy, and green solutions.

Problem statement 3: Innovating Ideas for Replacing Plastic Products with Green Products.

Plastic disposal is a worldwide recognized issue. Degradation of plastic takes decades and centuries. The plastic production process indirectly linked with harmful global carbon emissions. To save the planet, eco-friendly solutions for recycling of plastic products or replacing plastic products with the green products is mandatory. Marine pollution by plastic wastes also affects the economy by affecting fisheries, aqua business, heritage, tourism revenue, and recreation. The panoply of plastic creates hazardous health issues to humans by increasing diseases like cancer, diabetes, arthritis and autoimmune diseases. Ecofriendly substitutes for plastics is required for combating pollution. Hence innovative solution is needed exploring science for recycling of plastic products or replacing plastic products. This program aims to find out solutions by exploring innovative ideas like disposable of plastic items, recycling of plastic items, replacement of plastic items and alternatives to the items.

Problem statement 4: Strategic Nutrition: Yoga, Ancient and Ayurvedic Medicines

Ayurveda is believed to be originated in Bharat during the Vedic era. In this era of modernization, traditional food intake and supplementation is challenging. Ayurveda is now practiced, accepted in great demand globally for the cure of human health. Human being governed by inner and outer energy environment, that is movement, transformation and structure named as Vatta (Wind), Pitta (Fire) and Kapha (Earth). These three forces define the body and the mind. The ayurvedic diet helps to prevent and regulate the disease for wellness. Herbals and ancient medicines for associated supportive therapies, Yoga practice and Naturopathy are also part of Ayurveda for improvising mental and physical health. Practicing Yoga is very powerful in curing many diseases, mind and body coordination, stress reduction, controlling anxiety and balancing Chakras. The goal of this program is to find solutions of eliminating chronic diseases through Ayurveda, nutritional supplements for health and practices of Yoga.

Problem statement 5:Building Self Sustainable Smart Indian Cities: Ideas and Approaches

The objective of building self sustainable smart Indian cities involve in developing sustainable and inclusive citizen friendly cities that enhance the quality of life of its citizens.  Cities accommodate nearly 31% of India’s current population and contribute 63% of GDP. Urban areas are expected to house 40% of India’s population and contribute 75% of India’s GDP by 2030. This requires comprehensive development of physical, institutional, social and economic infrastructure. All are important in improving the quality of life and attracting people and investment, setting in motion a virtuous cycle of growth and development. Development of Smart Cities is a step in that direction. The objective of this program is to generate ideas and approaches that provide core infrastructure and give a decent quality of life to its citizens, a clean and sustainable environment and application of ‘Smart’ solutions. The key points to get solutions involve Clean Energy, Smart Grids, Safety and Security, Green Building Solutions, Eco-friendly Urban Building Solutions and Monitoring, Sanitation and Water Conservation Monitoring Technologies, Effective Traffic Monitoring. The motivation of this program is to set examples that can be replicated both within and outside the Smart City, catalyzing the creation of similar Smart Cities in various regions and parts of the country.

Problem statement 6.Climate Action Plan for Sustainable Future

The Earth’s climate is rapidly changing, which has severe consequences for our daily lives. This is reflected particularly in the changing weather patterns, rising sea levels, and extreme weather events. Greenhouse gas emissions from human activities is another concern. Climate change may affect national economies. Hence, combating climate change is vital to ensure our survival and the well being of future generations. Hence, affordable and scalable solutions are required strengthening resilience and adaptive capacity to climate-related hazards and natural disasters. In this regard, focuses on the issues like use of solar energy, enhanced energy efficiency, sustainable habitats, water management, sustaining the Himalayan ecosystem, protecting our natural ecosystem, low Carbon development, increasing agriculture productivity by integrated farming, soil health management are essential. The goal of this programs is to develop policies, strategies and planning for alternative renewable energies, cleaner technologies and a range of other measures that will reduce climate related hazards for sustainable future.

Problem statement 7: Involvement of Young Brains in Space Research Programs

In the emerging area, it is essential to develop program and interest among young minds from urban as well as in rural areas. Space research consists lots of little-known and unknown facts like–floating water in space, stars in space, existence of life in space, search of minerals, existence of water in planets and so many other possibilities. Apart from searching the new opportunities, there exists junk in space, which includes breaking parts from rockets and satellites. Hence, clean space is another concern. Additionally, many unending topics left for to be addressed in this emerging area of research. The goal of this programs is to develop interests and attitudes related to space-based research among the young minds. This program will inspire the next generation by providing them opportunities to participate, explore ideas, watch and learn in space-based research program.
